Cyclone Fund FAQs

What is the Cyclone Fund?

The Cyclone Fund is Porter-Gaud’s annual fund.  It is a critical source of funding for every student’s PG experience.

The Cyclone Fund runs annually from July 1 – June 30 and all gifts are tax-deductible.

What does the Cyclone Fund support?
The Cyclone Fund supports annual professional development for faculty, diversity initiatives, counseling, field trips and class retreats, financial aid, library resources, science equipment, art supplies, drama and music productions, on-campus speakers, technology, athletic equipment, and much more.
Why do we need the Cyclone Fund?

Porter-Gaud is a nonprofit organization that relies on tuition income, annual fund donations, and other sources to support the day-to-day operation of our school.

Tuition only covers 89 percent of what it costs to educate each Cyclone student. The Cyclone Fund helps bridge that gap in the school budget.

Why not just raise tuition to cover the gap?

The Board of Trustees is committed to keeping tuition affordable and a Porter-Gaud education accessible to all of our families.

The Cyclone Fund allows us to maintain a diverse student body, a world-class faculty, small class sizes and exceptional programs in all facets of school life, from academics to the arts and athletics.

How do I make a gift or a pledge?

Cash/credit card gifts can be made directly at:

You can also make a pledge by emailing your gift to:

Donors have until June 30th to pay this pledge unless installments have been agreed upon.

What other ways can I support the Cyclone Fund?

The Porter-Gaud Foundation is set up to receive gifts of stock, corporate matching gifts, as well as donations through Donor Advised Funds (DAF).

For details on each of these options and to see if your company has a matching gift program, visit:

Ways To Give

We also have opportunities for planned  and deferred gifts.

I can only make a small gift; is that even worth it?

Absolutely!  Every dollar and every donor makes a huge impact on the Cyclone Fund. Regardless of the amount, your support shows your belief in the mission, vision, and leadership of the school while increasing our giving percentages.

Outside foundations see this figure as an indicator of a strong school when considering grant proposals.

Can gifts be designated for a specific purpose?

Yes! Although the Cyclone Fund seeks unrestricted gifts that can be used for immediate and unexpected needs, we understand there may be other areas that you are passionate about funding.

Please let us know if there is a project you wish to support that is consistent with the programmatic needs and strategic plan of the school.
