Learning continues even after the school day ends. Our auxiliary programs provide our Lower and Middle School students the opportunities to continue that learning in subject areas they love.  We have programs in sports, music, academics and so much more.

Mondays

Kevin Jackson Soccer: 3:00 - 4:15 (1st - 4th grade) 

Starting Monday, August 25th

Jackson Soccer Development is bringing a fresh perspective to the game of soccer. Each uniquely designed session consists of group and individual skills, technical training and overall physical development. A heavy emphasis is placed on team building, character development, sportsmanship and a sense of fair play. Coach Kevin creates an environment where players reach their full potential through physical training and skills development while achieving self-confidence and positive self-esteem, from achievement both on and off the field. WePickle: 3:00 - 4:15 (1st - 4th Grade)

Starting Monday, August 25th

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It’s adaptability makes it an ideal choice for individuals of diverse  abilities and ages. This rapid growing sport has transcended traditional boundaries  and has become a symbol of inclusivity and community.  

The objective of WePickle is to introduce and promote the sport by providing an  intro to pickleball class at Porter-Gaud School. The class aims to provide  students with a structured recreational activity that promotes physical fitness,  social interaction, teamwork, and skill development.  WePickle aims to create a positive and inclusive experience for everyone. By  offering this class, we have the opportunity to enhance the overall well-being and  enjoyment of the students while fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.  

Benefits:  

1. Physical Fitness: Pickleball provides a low-impact aerobic workout that  improves cardiovascular health, agility, and coordination. 

2. Social Interaction: Participation in group activities fosters socialization skills,  communication, and teamwork. 

3. Skill Development: Learning and mastering pickleball techniques can boost  self-esteem, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment.

Bricks 4 Kidz Intergelactic Quest: (1st - 3rd Grade)

Starting Monday, August 25th

Your child will vist a imaginary space station each week and learn a different aspect of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), how it relates to space, and what aspects are science fiction versus science fact.  Each class is a fun and educational LEGO-building adventure with Bricks 4 Kidz. We use age-appropriate models for different levels of building skill. Children will develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in a fun and engaging way - and build a new "space" themed model each week. Even our youngest and newest students will learn how to make mechanical LEGO models that move and groove. As they advance in building skill, they’ll also motorize their weekly model for even more learning fun!

MS Fencing: 3:15 - 4:30 (5th - 8th Grade)

Porter-Gaud is thrilled to present the opportunity for your child to learn the art of fencing by fencing professionals! The elite sport of fencing incorporates agility, strength, coordination, balance, and timing. In this beginners fencing course, students will increase physical ability and gain a strong mental edge. The competitors of a fencing match wear protective gear and handle swords which will be fully provided for students to use each session.

Tuesdays

Tennis  Anyone?: 3:00 - 4:15 (1st - 2nd Grade )

Starting Tuesday, August 26th

Tennis is a life long sport that should begin at a young age. Tennis Anyone is designed to introduce the game of tennis in a format that is fun, exciting and educational. Students will focus on developing their balance, agility, awareness and of course their tennis technique. Coach Brown will provide the students with an hour of multiple games and drills.

This is the best course for those that would like to have an introduction to Tennis that will leave them wanting more! Instructor is Cameron Brown, our very own Lower School PE Instructor, Cross-Country Coach, Sailing Coach and Tennis Guru!

Ocean Explorers: 3:00 - 4:15 (1st - 4th Grade)

Starting Tuesday, August 26th

Join Ms. Dorito and dive into the deep blue at Ocean Explorers Camp, where young adventurers embark on an unforgettable journey to discover the wonders of the ocean! This hands-on, immersive camp is designed for curious campers who want to learn about marine life, ocean ecosystems, and the vital role our oceans play in the health of our planet. Through engaging activities like interactive lessons, guided marsh and tide pool exploration, and replicating your own ecosystem, campers will gain a deep understanding of marine biology.

Minecraft Club: 3:15 - 4:30 (2nd - 6th Grade)

Starting Tuesday, August 26th

Dive into the magical land of Minecraft where your students will become master builders! Together, they'll craft cool 3D worlds and show off their awesome designs. For those who are more advanced, there's even a chance to play around with Command Blocks and block coding found in the Minecraft Education Edition.

How to play? Choose your style! Whether it's on a Windows PC using a keyboard & mouse, rocking an Xbox controller, or tapping away on a touchscreen tablet, the adventure is at your fingertips.

At each club meeting, our fun-filled sessions include Minecraft building contests, where teams can dream up and design their very own worlds. But wait, there's more! We feature cool games like Star Wars Hide and Seek and the thrilling Bed Wars. Join us, and not only will you have a blast, but you'll also learn awesome skills like teaming up, thinking creatively, and problem-solving. Ready to build, play, and learn? Let's go!

Coach Evans Shoot 4 Fitness: 3:15 - 4:30 (5th - 8th Grade)

Starting Tuesday, August 26th

Join Coach Evans for his "Shoot 4 Fitness" Middle School Program.  This program combines basketball training with a shooting focus and strength and conditioning training.

The first 45 minutes of each session will consist of in-depth shooting drills, focusing on proper form, repetition, and practicing shooting in game like situations.

The last 30 minutes of each session will focus on fitness; plyometrics, agility training, core exercises and more.  Fitness is a key part for any athlete to excel in their preferred sport, especially basketball.

This is a great opportunity to get ready for the upcoming basketball season!

Wednesdays

Youth Lacrosse 3:00 - 4:15 (1st - 2nd Grade)

Starting Wednesday, August 27th

Join PG Varsity Lacrosse's offensive coordinator, Coach John Austen, for our LS lax program! This program will teach the general knowledge and skills needed to play the high pace sport of Lacrosse. Through drills, games and competitive play, campers will learn about the FUNdamentals. This will include passing, shooting, ground balls, cradling, and defensive tactics.

*Please try to bring your own sticks, we have some extra if needed. Don't miss your chance to get a jumpstart on this awesome sport!

LS Fencing: 3:00 - 4:15 (1st - 4th Grade)

The Art Lab w/ Ms Penelope: 3:00 - 4:15  (1st - 4th Grade)

Starting Wednesday, August 27th

Where experiments turn into masterpieces! In this hands-on program, 1st - 4th graders will explore how science can be used as a tool for artistic creation. Through exciting, interactive projects, students will experiement, discover, and design unique works of art. Blending curiosity, creativity, and a touch of scietific magic. Perfect for kids who love to create and explore!

Youth Basketball: 3:00 - 4:15 (2nd - 4th Grade)

Starting Wednesday, August 27th

Come out and have some fun while learning the fundamental skills and techniques of Basketball! Head Varsity Coach and overall basketball guru John Pearson has a passion for teaching the skills and drills every little baller needs to succeed on the court and progress to the Varsity level. 

If your child is serious about learning fundamentals, becoming a better basketball player, building skills and connecting with the PG Varsity coaches then this is the program for you! Keep an eye out for current Varsity star players, as they will assist throughout the semester.

Game Design with Bloxels: 3:15 - 4:30 (3rd - 6th Grade)

Starting Wednesday, August 27th

Want to create your own Mario-like video game? BloxelsBuilderEdu is an educational platform reminiscent of a classic Mario Brothers game. Throughout the week, students will learn how to create their own video games, art, stories and more. The difference with Bloxels is that no coding is required. This is the design aspect of gaming. Bloxels turns students from content consumers into confident digital creators! Students will practice creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication throughout the camp. Game boards, storyboards, and character templates will be used in conjunction with the app so students can use various ways to design their games. The iPads and access to the Bloxels program for the week will be provided. 

Thursdays

Girls Got Game: 3:00 - 4:15 (1st - 4th Grade)

Starting Thursday, August 28th

Join Porter-Gaud's own Gretchen Tate and Ragan Wood for this introduction into girls sports! In this program, girls will dive into several of the following sports while competing in a fun and structured environment: Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Track and Field, Golf, Tennis, Lacrosse and Soccer. Gretchen and Ragan have a wide range of knowledge for these sports from playing and being MS and Varsity Coaches here at PG. This is a great opportunity to get a head start on girls sports as they progress into Middle School and can play on their first Porter-Gaud team.

Seha Karate: 3:00 - 4:15 (1st - 4th Grade)

Starting Thursday, August 28th

*All belt levels are welcome

Sensei Pettus is back! Sensei returns with this beginner Karate class, you will learn the basic fundamentals as well as self-defense techniques. The class will promote physical fitness and demonstrate respect for yourself and others. You will learn to practice self-control and you will have the opportunity to earn traditional belt advancement.

Belt and Key Chain all provided!

Digital Arts: 3:00 - 4:15 (2nd - 4th Grade)

Starting Thursday, August 28th

In this program, students will be introduced to the world of graphic design and digital art by exploring common creative tools and techniques. They’ll learn how to copy, paste, move, and resize images and shapes, as well as how to use layers to build visually balanced designs. Students will also practice searching the web for images, removing image backgrounds, and placing their selected images into Google Slides to create a personalized digital room — building both technical skills and creative confidence.

Tennis 101: 3:00 - 4:15 (3rd - 4th Grade)

Starting Thursday, August 28th

Tennis 101 is an advanced-beginner course designed for players that would like to advance their skills and technique. Instruction will center around the preparation, balance and commitment that it takes to be an efficient tennis player. Students will learn to develop their overall tennis game. This course will be for those that will stay focused and have already developed a tennis game at the beginner level. If you have a child enroll for this program that does not meet the ability level they will be asked to move to the "Tennis Anyone" program on Thursdays. If that class is full the student will be refunded. Thank you!

Bricks 4 Kidsz - Amusement Park Adventure: 3:15 - 4:30 (4th - 6th Grade)

Starting Thursday, August 28th

Get ready to build your own amusement park with Bricks 4 Kidz - each week students will build a different ride (ferris wheel, cyclone, roller-coaster, etc.)!  This hands-on class utilizes STEAM concepts (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) using LEGO Bricks!  This class is for builders who are already familiar with LEGO and have likely built motorized models in our classes before (previuos experience not required). Using sensors & motors, students will learn how to code the models we build and learn how robots can interact with the world around them.

Sunday Clinic

The Ed Conroy Co-Ed Basketball Clinic: 3:00pm 5:00pm (2nd - 6th Grade)

Join Head Coach of the Citadel's Basketball Team, Ed Conroy, for his Fall basketball clinic here at Porter-Gaud.  Coach Conroy was named Head Coach at The Citadel on March 23, 2022, returning him to his alma mater. Coach Conroy was a standout cadet athlete from 1985-89 and was previously the Head Coach at The Citadel from 2006-2010.

This is his fourth year running a co-ed clinic for our little ballers here at PG.  This clinic includes in depth instruction and competitive play.  Players will be broken up by age/skill level to ensure a level of competition and benefit for everyone.  Don't miss out on an opportunity to learn from a Division 1 coaching staff and players from The Citadel!
