Learning continues even after the school day ends. Our auxiliary programs provide our Lower and Middle School students the opportunities to continue that learning in subject areas they love.  We have programs in sports, music, academics and so much more.

Mondays

Junior Tennis with Coach Brown (1st-2nd):
3:00pm-4:15pm 

Junior Tennis is an advanced-beginner course designed for players that would like to advance their skills and technique. Instruction will center around the preparation, balance and commitment that it takes to be an efficient tennis player. Students will learn to develop their overall tennis game. This course will be for those that will stay focused and have already developed a tennis game at the beginner level.

Kevin Jackson Soccer (1st-4th):

Jackson Soccer Development is bringing a fresh perspective to the game of soccer. Each uniquely designed session consists of group and individual skills, technical training and overall physical development. A heavy emphasis is placed on team building, character development, sportsmanship and a sense of fair play. Coach Kevin creates an environment where players reach their full potential through physical training and skills development while achieving self-confidence and positive self-esteem, from achievement both on and off the field. Mini Cake Masters (1st-4th grade):

Unleash your inner pastry artist! In this hands-on class, kids will learn the basics of cake decorating while having a blast. From frosting techniques to fun designs with sprinkles, edible glitter, and colorful piping, each child will create their own mini masterpiece to take home. Perfect for young bakers, this class encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and a love for baking. No prior experience needed—just a big imagination and a sweet tooth!

Basketball with Coach Pearson (2nd-4th grade):

Come out and have some fun while learning the fundamental skills and techniques of Basketball! Head Varsity Coach and overall basketball guru John Pearson has a passion for teaching the skills and drills every little baller needs to succeed on the court and progress to the Varsity level.

If your child is serious about learning fundamentals, becoming a better basketball player, building skills and connecting with the PG Varsity coaches then this is the program for you! Keep an eye out for current Varsity star players, as they will assist throughout the semester.

Pokémon Club (2nd-5th grade):

Calling all Pokémon Trainers! Learn how to evolve, battle and win points with Pokémon Battle Academy. This screen free enrichment will include Pokemon themed crafts and activities as trainers compete in weekly battle rounds.

Fencing (4th-8th grade):

Porter-Gaud is thrilled to present the opportunity for your child to learn the art of fencing by fencing professional Patrick Lausi! The elite sport of fencing incorporates agility, strength, coordination, balance, and timing. In this beginners fencing course, students will increase physical ability and gain a strong mental edge. The competitors of a fencing match wear protective gear and handle swords which will be fully provided for students to use each session. At the end of the program students will get the opportunity to visit the Edge of America Fencing Club of Charleston to practice their skills in a true match.

Intro to Baseball with Coach Andrew is designed for players of all skill levels who want to learn, compete, and have fun while improving their game. Participants will work on core baseball skills through engaging drills and games, including infield and outfield fungos, on-field batting practice, wiffle ball games, and more.

South Carolina Youth Girls Lacrosse (1st-4th):

Join Coach Taylor Blenckstone for her girls lacrosse program!  This program is focused on skill development, teaching the fundamentals of girls lacrosse in a fun and encouraging environment.  Perfect for those trying to learn a new sport, or current players looking to take their skills to the next level!

Soccer Shots (1st-4th):

Soccer Shots provides a high-quality, age-appropriate soccer program designed to inspire kids and build confidence.

Our nationally recognized curriculum focuses on skill development, teamwork, and character-building — all taught by trained, background-checked coaches who LOVE working with children.

Through creative games, skill-building activities, and our signature character words, your child will learn:

The Knight School’s secret is “the chess party.” We invite everyone to join our chess 

team. We use high-energy teaching methods such as super-fast, clock-slapping chess games, zany chess videos, a strict bully-free environment, silicone wristbands for tactics mastery, driving music, hilarious videos, and Mardi-Gras bead chess tournaments each practice. Chess set, city-wide tournaparty, and more included!

Trash to Treasure - Fashion Lab (1st-4th):
3:00pm-4:15pm

Trash to Treasure Fashion Lab is a hands-on, imaginative design class where young creators transform everyday recycled materials into one-of-a-kind wearable art. Using items like cardboard, paper, fabric scraps, plastic packaging, and other “discarded” treasures, students explore basic fashion design, sustainability, and engineering concepts while building creativity and confidence. Each session introduces a new design challenge —such as making hats, costumes, accessories, or runway-ready outfits—encouraging problem-solving, color theory, and self- expression. Students will sketch ideas, experiment with textures and structure, and proudly showcase their eco-friendly creations in a mini fashion show at the end of class.

Porter-Gaud Girls Soccer (1st-4th):

Get involved in Porter-Gaud girls soccer at an early age! Designed for players in 1st through 4th grade, this program welcomes all skill levels—from first-timers to experienced athletes.

Under the guidance of girls varsity soccer coach, Nora Sampson, players will work on individual skills while gaining a great overall introduction to the sport. Our program balances individual technical mastery (foot skills, ball control, passing) with fundamental team concepts and games. Most importantly, players will get a feel for what it is like to play soccer as a Cyclone with hard work, sportsmanship, and fun!

Improv: Games, Confidence, and Creativity (3rd-5th):

This beginner-friendly improv class is packed with fun, fast-paced games that build confidence, creativity, teamwork, and public speaking skills. Students will learn the power of “Yes, and…” while developing quick thinking, active listening, and positive interaction in a supportive, low-pressure environment. No experience is necessary—just a willingness to play and have fun!

Intro to Lacrosse with Coach John Austen (1st-2nd grade):

Join Varsity Lacrosse Offensive Coordinator John Austen to learn the FUNdamentals of lacrosse. Throughout this program players will learn the fundamentals of the sport through fun and competitive games!

Fold Fushion (1st-3rd grade):

Unleash your child’s imagination one crease at a time! Fold Fusion is an exciting, hands-on after-school enrichment club where flat sheets of paper transform into incredible 3D toys, animals, and flying machines. Designed for young creators, this 8-session journey builds fine motor skills, sharpens spatial math reasoning, and boosts patience through the magic of paper folding. Just bring your curiosity and get ready to fold, chat, and create!

Squishies and Slime Science (1st-4th grade):

Get ready to stretch, squish, squeeze, and discover the science behind everyone's favorite sensory creations! In Squishies & Slime - Sensory Science, young scientists will explore the fascinating world of polymers, chemical reactions, and materials through hands-on experiments that are ooey, gooey, and full of fun. Each week, students will create a new slime or squishy-inspired project while experimenting with different textures, colors, scents, and exciting mix-ins. From fluffy slime and bouncy putty to sensory doughs and fidget creations, every class is packed with creativity, exploration, and discovery. Along the way, students will learn about states of matter, elasticity, mixtures, and the science that makes these stretchy creations behave in such surprising ways. They'll experiment, create, and take home a unique project after each class!

Sensei Pettus is back! Sensei returns with this beginner Karate class, you will learn the basic fundamentals as well as self-defense techniques. The class will promote physical fitness and demonstrate respect for yourself and others. You will learn to practice self-control and you will have the opportunity to earn traditional belt advancement.

Your child will use their imagination at Lego Club with Bricks 4 Kidz!  Using motorized models and color kits will go on imaginary journeys to fun places where they will learn, laugh and build!

Pickleball is one of the most fun ways to get outside, move around and have fun (and even be a little competitive!) We will teach fundamentals but mostly give kids an opportunity to have a great time playing a fun game!

Boys Lacrosse with Coach John Austen (2nd-4th grade):

**Full pads required

Join Varsity Lacrosse Offensive Coordinator John Austen for this intermediate lacrosse program for 3rd and 4th graders. This program is designed to prepare players for live competitive play, and is designed for those with prior lacrosse experience.  Players will not only learn the fundamentals, but they will learn what it takes to be a successful team: offensive and defensive formations, proper subbing procedure's, the role of each position on the field, and more!

Porter-Gaud JV Girls Soccer (5th-8th):
4:00pm-6:00pm

During these six weeks players will train in a competitive environment designed to prepare them for Porter-Gaud Soccer. Whether an aspiring PG soccer player or currently on the JV team, this program is for our players passionate about the game and developing to play soccer at a higher level. Led by varsity girls coach, Nora Sampson, and some of the PG varsity players.

The first half of each session players will work on individual skill work and ball mastery followed by small sided games and scrimmages. Get a feel for what it is like to play soccer as a Cyclone and compete with the best!
